The Carpenter / Painter maintains interiors and performs journey-level work across facilities.

The role involves installing, repairing walls, flooring, ceilings, doors, hardware, and fixtures. Perform preventive maintenance using power tools and the Work Order System. Ensure compliance with local codes while reading blueprints independently.

For painting, prepare surfaces by priming, sanding, sealing, patching, and applying paints like varnish, lacquer, latex. Repair sheetrock, remove graffiti, install wall coverings, and maintain equipment like sprayers. Erect scaffolding safely and manage materials per disposal requirements.

Work safely around customers and employees, often without direct supervision. Complete tasks efficiently as directed by the People Leader, with dependable attendance. Assist across facilities, including on-call for routine and emergency calls.

Foster an environment of acceptance and respect with colleagues, customers, and communities. Full-time roles typically schedule 30 or more hours weekly, based on business needs and availability.

Requirements

  • Regularly use power tools and lift heavy or bulky items
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Work independently without daily direct supervision
  • Work safely around customers and employees
  • Erect scaffolding and use ladders safely in compliance with safety codes
  • Estimate time and materials required for projects
  • Purchase and inventory equipment and supplies
  • Adhere to state and local disposal requirements for hazardous materials

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair walls, flooring, ceilings, fixtures, doors, hardware, and laminate
  • Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on building interiors as needed
  • Prepare, prime, sand, seal, patch, and paint interior and exterior surfaces using varnish, lacquer, and latex
  • Apply tape and joint compound to repair sheetrock walls and ceilings; remove graffiti
  • Operate, clean, and maintain painting equipment including brushes, rollers, sprayers, and pumps
  • Utilize the Work Order System to manage repair requests and document completed work
  • Read and interpret blueprints and specifications; ensure compliance with local codes
  • Travel intermittently between store locations and work on-call for service calls
