About this role

Clean Harbors Remediation Group seeks a Traveling Safety Officer to support project sites and assist with H&S program implementation and improvements. This role demands 90-100% travel with flexible cadence to sites nationwide and internationally. Preferred base in Denver, CO or another major city.

Daily efforts focus on ensuring Health and Safety as the top priority through compliance with all safe work practices, policies, and processes. Interface with project managers, superintendents, supervisors, foremen, heavy equipment operators, and laborers at project or facility sites. Work under guidance of Health & Safety professionals while assisting with safety documents and communications.

Join a team executing large technical remediation, environmental construction, transportation, and disposal projects. Serve diverse customers across regulatory, government, and military sectors. Collaborate with professionals in Sales, Landfill, Incineration, Transportation, TSDF, and local office networks using a turn-key project approach.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree/certificate in safety related field preferred or 3-5 years of direct field safety experience in lieu of degree
  • Background of H&S in industrial environment preferred
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently
  • Proficient with computers, web navigation, MS Suite, Adobe Acrobat preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean MVR required
  • Ability to follow company policy on facial hair and getting fit for a respirator as needed
  • Knowledge of Federal and State regulations

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes
  • Interface with project managers, superintendents, supervisors, foremen, heavy equipment operators, and laborers on projects or at facility sites
  • Work and learn under the guidance of Health & Safety professionals
  • Assist in the development of HASPs, JHAs, and other required safety documents
  • Develop and manage safety related communication and updates
  • Assist with onboarding and guidance of new employees
  • Serve on the Safety Committee and help guide policy and procedures
  • Assist with H&S related admin functions such as training and incident reporting
