About this role
The OSP Construction Manager mentors, develops, and oversees the construction and fiber splicing team plus contract labor for business and residential fiber construction. This role promotes core values while coordinating, planning, and executing fiber projects to meet quality, time, and budget goals. Collaboration with vendors, contractors, engineers, and internal teams ensures compliance with standards, safety, and best practices.
Day-to-day involves supervising personnel, coordinating in-house and contract efforts for aerial and underground new builds and rebuilds. Coordinate with utility companies on right-of-way work like pole transfers, maintenance, inspections, relocations, and extensions. Work with engineers and developers on plant design, equipment placement, and material orders.
Manage teams through interviewing, hiring, training, assigning work, performance appraisals, rewards, discipline, and problem resolution. Monitor contractors for adherence to agreements and local/state codes. Perform site inspections for quality control and safety while handling permitting and make-ready processes.
Report construction progress concerns to Vice President of Field Operations and ensure staff meets tight deadlines from residential and business sales teams. Travel is expected with a valid California Driver’s License and clean DMV required. This full-time exempt role offers a typical Monday-Friday 6AM-3PM schedule.
Requirements
- Valid California Driver’s License and clean DMV record
- Ability to interview, hire, train, assign, appraise, reward, and discipline construction personnel
- Knowledge of aerial and underground fiber construction practices
- Familiarity with utility coordination for pole transfers, inspections, and relocations
- Experience ensuring compliance with safety regulations, local codes, and industry standards
- Proficiency in coordinating permitting, make-ready, and site inspections
- Skill in monitoring contractor performance and resolving construction issues
- Capability to communicate progress concerns to senior leadership
Responsibilities

- Represent interests professionally with governmental, municipal, and related industry organizations
- Coordinate with utility companies for right-of-way work including pole transfers, system maintenance, pole inspection, relocation of plant and plant extensions
- Coordinate with engineers and developers in designing the plant and complete material orders for planned construction
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure adherence to agreements, local and state construction requirements and codes
- Perform site inspections for quality control and safety
- Coordinate permitting and make-ready process
Benefits
- $125k-$150k compensation range DOE
- Full-time exempt benefited position
- 40 hours per week with Monday-Friday 6AM-3PM schedule
