The Transportation Project Manager is a pivotal role within our Transportation Practice Group, leading high-profile projects for IDOT, the Illinois Tollway, and various county and municipal agencies.
This experienced Civil Engineer brings deep technical proficiency in transportation design and a strong ability to lead projects. Manage and execute roadway and highway design tasks for projects of moderate to large complexity with support from senior transportation engineers. Oversee junior engineers handling daily tasks related to project deliverables.
Lead technical assignments including roadway geometrics, ADA design, drainage system design, traffic analysis, barrier warrant analyses, and maintenance of traffic. Perform high-level design using MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer 3D modeling software. Conduct traffic studies using HCS, Synchro, and other modeling tools within multidisciplinary workflows.
Act as primary point of contact for clients, assist in scoping engineering services and developing fee proposals. Ensure technical accuracy through QA/QC oversight, checking design computations. Represent the firm at professional transportation organization events, driving holistic solutions across the natural and built environment lifecycle.
Requirements
- Experienced Civil Engineer with deep technical proficiency in transportation design
- Strong ability to lead projects
- Experience with MicroStation
- Ability to manage multidisciplinary workflows
- Proficiency in OpenRoads Designer (ORD) 3D modeling software
- Knowledge of traffic analysis tools including HCS and Synchro
- Familiarity with professional transportation organizations
- Ability to represent the firm at professional transportation organization events
Responsibilities
- Independently manage and execute roadway and highway design tasks for projects of moderate to large complexity
- Oversee junior engineers managing daily tasks related to project deliverables

- Perform high-level design primarily using MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer (ORD) 3D modeling software
- Perform traffic studies and analysis using HCS, Synchro, and other modeling software
- Lead the development of preliminary design studies (Phase I), Project Reports, technical specifications, and quantity take-offs
- Act as a primary point of contact for clients and assist in scoping engineering services and developing fee proposals
- Ensure technical accuracy by checking design computations and preparing QA/QC oversight
