Plant Operator III positions in the Water Quality Division monitor water treatment processes at city water plants. These roles cover assigned areas including equipment, facilities, pumping, and employees during 12-hour shifts. Shifts run from 9:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. or 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Operators ensure safe operation of treatment systems using required safety equipment. All applicants must pass a respirator fit and cardiopulmonary test. Successful hires utilize gear like fall protection, ladders, lifts, and confined space entry equipment within design capacities.

Seven Plant Operator III positions exist on each shift at each water plant. The department supports continuous monitoring across night and day rotations. This structure maintains 24/7 oversight of water quality operations.

Requirements

  • Operate water treatment plant systems during 12-hour shifts
  • Ensure proper functioning of pumping and treatment facilities
  • Respond to operational needs in water quality processes
  • Maintain oversight of plant operations on night or day shifts
