About this role
Due to the creation of a new business unit at Ground Control, we are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join on a 6-month contract. This key commercial role oversees large-scale landscape construction projects in a designated region. It ensures strong financial performance and successful project delivery.
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, drive profitability and maintain robust commercial control across multiple projects. Work closely with Project Managers and the wider commercial team for accurate reporting, effective cost management, and contractual compliance. Handle financial management, reporting, procurement, and project support daily.
Collaborate in a fast-paced environment managing complex contracts from a commercial perspective. Engage with client-side Quantity Surveyors on valuations and changes. Participate in contract review meetings providing financial insights.
This role offers high-profile landscape construction projects in a collaborative, supportive environment. Enjoy high autonomy and responsibility as a chartered or highly experienced Quantity Surveyor. Thrive while ensuring profitability targets and mitigating commercial risks.
Requirements
- Experienced Quantity Surveyor ideally within landscape or construction projects
- Experience in subcontracting or main contractor environment
- Experience managing procurement programmes and subcontractors
- Chartered Quantity Surveyor or highly experienced equivalent
- Confident managing complex contracts from a commercial perspective
- Skilled in cost management, financial reporting, and contractual compliance
- Proficient in delay analysis and drafting contractual notices
Responsibilities
- Manage project budgets and ensure profitability targets are achieved
- Produce accurate weekly cost reports and monthly financial reporting
- Carry out cost and value reconciliation (CVR), identifying risks and opportunities
- Prepare and submit monthly valuations, ensuring full entitlement is captured
- Manage change control processes, including variations and Additional Instructions (AIs)
- Lead subcontractor procurement, including tendering and package preparation
- Conduct site measurements and validate quantities against drawings
- Identify and mitigate commercial risks, preventing disputes and late payments
