Turner & Townsend seeks a Lead Cost Manager to oversee cost management for a large-scale, mission-critical data center construction program. This leadership role requires advanced technical expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to guide teams in a fast-paced environment. Open to strong Senior Cost Managers or Associate Director-level professionals.

As Lead Cost Manager, take ownership of cost management across the full project lifecycle, ensuring delivery within budget while upholding quality and compliance. Lead client-facing engagements, develop detailed cost plans, and deliver monthly reports and forecasts. Review design development and contractor pricing to secure competitive contracts.

Work in a hybrid arrangement with three days per week in the Phoenix office and remote flexibility. Coordinate with project controls, scheduling teams, contractors, and vendors on a global program. Build strong relationships while maintaining benchmarking data and historical records.

Mentor junior team members, drive value engineering, and enhance internal cost management tools and processes. Contribute to procurement strategies, contingency tracking, and SOX controls where applicable. Foster continuous improvement through lessons learned on impactful projects.

Requirements

  • 8–12+ years of progressive experience in cost management or a related discipline, including leadership responsibilities
  • Expertise in cost planning, budgeting, financial reporting, and control
  • Experience leading cost management on large-scale construction projects, preferably mission-critical data centers
  • Advanced skills in change management, value engineering, and procurement strategies
  • Ability to influence stakeholders, negotiate contracts, and present to executives
  • Proficiency in maintaining benchmarking data, historical cost records, and lessons learned
  • Knowledge of project controls integration and regulatory compliance including SOX where applicable

Responsibilities

  • Lead cost management activities throughout the project lifecycle, including budgeting, estimating, cost control, and change management through final account closeout
  • Develop and present detailed cost plans, budgets, and estimates aligned with project scope and objectives
  • Prepare and deliver accurate monthly cost reports, forecasts, and executive-level presentations
  • Review design development and contractor pricing, leading negotiations for fair and competitive contract pricing
  • Provide strategic advice on procurement strategies, bid analysis, and contract administration
  • Oversee contingency tracking, commitment logs, and cost impact reporting across multiple packages or phases
  • Drive value engineering and design optimization initiatives to identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Mentor and coach junior team members, fostering professional development and best practices
