As Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will provide commercial support within a large multi-disciplinary team.

You will work closely with project managers and design managers to ensure successful delivery of projects on time and to budget. This includes controlling internal and external commercial aspects across various contractual arrangements. Operate in Highways, Rail, Aviation and Maritime sectors on major transportation projects.

The team delivers tailored solutions addressing clients’ key challenges, combining project expertise with programme delivery and advisory services. Projects range up to £20bn through disciplines like cost management, estimating, and project controls. Vision is to establish consultancy as credible and preferred for clients.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of contractual obligations in construction projects
  • Ability to produce detailed cost plans during design phases
  • Understanding of value engineering and value for money principles
  • Experience appraising main contract and sub-contract tenders
  • Familiarity with processing commercial queries from consultants and contractors
  • Proficiency in commercial checks and due diligence
  • Skills in assessing estimates to completion for consultants or contractors
  • Awareness of project controls, scheduling, and cost management in transportation sectors

Responsibilities

  • Support and advise the project manager in respect of fulfilment of all contractual obligations
  • Produce detailed cost plans throughout the design phase of projects
  • Actively promote and implement value engineering and value for money
  • Review, appraise and report on main contract and sub-contract tenders
  • Monitor and process commercial queries from consultants and contractors on behalf of the client
  • Attend progress meetings to respond to commercial matters raised
  • Attend internal management meetings to input to reporting processes
  • Check submitted assessments and applications and process
